- พวกเราเป็นวง HC/PK จาก BLYNY ก่อตั้งกันเมื่อหน้าร้อนปี 99 Inhuman ในปัจจุบันมี Michael เป็นนักร้องนำ Joseph James เล่นเบส และ Foot เป็นมือกลอง ขณะนี้กำลังหามือกีตาร์กันอยู่
2. ทราบมาว่ามีการเปลี่ยนแปลงสมาชิก เกิดอะไรขึ้นหรือ ? มีใครออกไปและใครเข้ามาบ้าง ?
- ตั้งแต่ออกชุด “ REBELLION ” เมื่อ ต.ค. 99 เราก็เสียมือกีตาร์คือ Walter และมือกลองคือ JOE ไปและได้ FOOT จากวง TOF แห่ง NJ มาตีกลองให้แทน
ส่วนมือกีตาร์ยังไม่มีใครมาแทน WALTER สาเหตุที่ WALTER ออกไปนั้นมีหลายเรื่อง แต่เหตุผลหลัก ๆก็คือ เขาไม่สนุกที่จะเล่นกับเรามานานแล้ว เขายังค่อนข้างแข็งข้อกับต้นสังกัดอีกด้วย จนรู้สึกว่าวงน่าจะไปไม่รอดในอนาคต เช่นเดียงกับ JOE ที่คิดแบบนี้เหมือนกัน พูดตรง ๆว่าพวกเรายินดีมากที่ทั้งคู่ออกไป
3. คุณทำอะไรกันอีกนอกจาก Inhuman ? มีวงอื่น ๆด้วย ? ทำอาชีพอะไร งานอดิเรก อื่นๆ ?
- นอกจาก IM แล้ว ผมทำงานที่บริษัทดนตรีแผนกโฆษณา ผมเป็นนักสะสมตัวยงมีทั้ง CD และแผ่นเสียงมากมาย อีกทั้งเป็นหนอนหนังสือการ์ตูนมา 15 ปีแล้วมีเป็นพัน ๆเล่มทีเดียว และบ้ามากกับพวกของเล่นและหนังแนวสยองขวัญ
4. อัลบั้มแรกของคุณชุด “ REVOLVER ” ไม่มีขายที่นี้ มันออกกับค่ายอะไร ? อัลบั้มล่าสุด “ REBELLION ” ออกกับค่าย EXIT ทำไมจึงอยู่ค่ายนี้ ?
- เดี๋ยวก่อน... ชุดแรกของเราชื่อ “ EVOLVER ” ไม่ใช่ “ REVOLVER ” หวังว่าคงกระจ่างและหายสับสนแล้วนะ EVOLVER อยู่ในสังกัด EYEBALL RECORDS ที่นิวยอร์ค ค่ายนี้ยังมีผลงานของ BREAKDOWN และล่าสุดก็วง KILL VAN KULL และ THURSDAY
เราตกลงย้ายมาอยู่กับ EXIT เพราะเห็นว่าเป็นค่ายที่ก้าวหน้ากว่า EYEBALL เราเห็นในสิ่งที่ค่ายนี้ให้กับ INDECISION และ SILENT MAJORITY ( มีแค่สองวงนะ ) และความจริงก็คือค่ายนี้มีสื่อและการจัดจำหน่ายที่ใช้ได้ทีเดียว
5. เริ่มฟัง H/C ครั้งแรกเมื่อไหร่ ? และวงดนตรีใดที่ทำให้พวกคุณเป็น H/C ?
- ผมเป็น HC ตอนช่วงต้นปี 88 ปลาย 87 เป็นผลมาจาการเล่นสเก็ตจริง ๆ ผมเป็นขาเมทัลมาก่อนฟังพวก Anthrax, MOD, Metallica, Slayer และ Megadeth แล้วเริ่มสุงสิงกับพวก HC จนในที่สุดก็เข้าสู่วงการนี้
พวกเขาอัดเทปรวมเพลงแนวนี้ให้ผมฟังเมื่อ ก.พ. 88 ทุกวันนี้ยังมีอยู่เลย เป็นเพลง DEMO เก่าของวง BD ปี87, CroMags 86 ซิงเกิลของ SOIA, WARZONE ชุดแรก ๆบางเพลงของ ANF และ CRUM ไม่รู้จะพูดอะไรแล้ว ผมก็เป็นแบบนี้มาตั้งแต่ตอนนั้น ผมดูคอนเสริต์ครั้งแรกตอนพ.ค.88 เป็นโชว์ของ BB ที่เดอะ RITZ ตอนนั้นอายุ 14 ย่าง 15
6. แล้ววงโปรดตอนนี้ละ ?
- สำหรับ HC ก็มี IGNITE, SHUTDOWN, TRIAL, STRIFE, FLOORPUNCH และอีกหลายวง และยังฟังพวกโกธิค, อินดัสเตียล และ EBM ไปจนถึง BM,DM ที่เริ่มฟังมาตั้งแต่ปี 91
แต่รู้ไหมผมจะบอกให้ว่าวงที่ผมฟังได้ตลอดคือวงเหล่านี้ MISFITS, DANZIG, SAMHAIN, GUNS N ROSES, TYPE O NEGATIVE, THE DAMNED, SISTERS OF MERCY, CRO MAGS, BAUHAUS, INTEGRITY, IGNITE, DARKTHRONE, SLAYER, SOCIAL DISTORTION และ JOY DIVISION
7. วง HC คณะใดที่คุณเคยร่วงทัวร์และเล่นด้วย ?
- เราแค่เคยทัวร์กับ Shutdown และ All Out War เท่านั้น ส่วนเล่นด้วยนั้นเคยกับวง Murphys Law, Madball, Indecision, 25 ta Life, Floorpunch, Ensign, hatebreed, Disassociate, Silent Majority, Kill Your Idols, Where Fear And Weapons Meet, Sworn enemy และอีกมากมาย
8. ที่กรุงเทพเรามีปัญหาในการหาสถานที่เล่นให้กับวงดนตรี เราจ่ายค่าเช่าแพงมากให้กับทางร้าน และเราก็ไม่มีเงินมากพอ ที่อเมริกาจัดงานกันอย่างไร ? ใครเป็นคนจัดและจ่ายเงิน ? ทางร้านจ้างคุณไปเล่นหรือแค่ให้เล่นแล้วเก็บกำไรจากค่าบัตร ? ปกติทำกันอย่างไร ?
- งาน HC โชว์แต่ละงานผู้จัดเป็นคนหาสถานที่หรือไม่ก็พวกเด็กที่ดูในงานนั้นแหละ สำหรับงานที่เล่นตามร้านเล็ก ๆส่วนมากทางร้านจะแบ่งเปอร์เซ็นต์จากค่าผ่านประตูจ่ายให้วงดนตรี ส่วนงานตาม HALLใหญ่ ๆคนจัดจะจ่ายทั้งหมดให้กับค่าที่และเครื่องเสียง โดย ( หวังว่า ) เก็บเงินให้ได้พอที่จะจ่ายให้วงดนตรี ผมไม่ชอบเล่นตามงานแบบนี้เลย แต่มันก็ต้องเป็นอย่างนี้แหละ ชีวิตนี้ไม่มีอะไรฟรีหรอกจริงเปล่า ?
9. IM มีโครงการอะไรบ้าง ? คุณทำอัลบั้มใหม่รึยัง ? จะออกกับค่ายไหน ? มันจะต่างจากที่ทำมา จะมีโชว์เร็ว ๆ นี้รึเปล่า ? กับใครที่ไหน ?
- เป้าหมายหลักของเราคือ สมาชิกที่มั่นคงและถาวร แล้วค่อยทัวร์จากนั้นจึงทำอัลบั้มใหม่ หวังว่าคงเป็นไปตามนี้ อยากบอกว่ายังไงก็ตามชุดใหม่จะต้องต่างจาก 2 อัลบั้มก่อนน่าจะลึกขึ้นกว่าเดิม อยากจะลองผสมทั้ง HC, Punk, Rock, Goth และ Metal ตามที่สังกัดให้เป็นเหมือนที่เราตกลงมันเป็นทางออก แต่คุณยังไม่รู้หรอก
10. เราทราบมาว่าพวกคุณกำลังจัดงานใหญ่ใน NY มันเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง ? ที่ไหนเมื่อไร ใครเล่นบ้าง ?
- ใช่เรากำลังฟอร์มงานใหญ่ชื่อ BROOKLYN FEST ที่จัดขึ้นในวันที่ 27 สิงหาคมนี้ เราค่อนข้างตื่นเต้นเพราะไม่เคยทำอะไรแบบนี้มาก่อน เราวางแผนไว้ว่าจะมีวงดนตรี 14 วงหลากหลายสไตล์ร่วมแสดง อาทิ SHUTDOWN, INHUMAN, SWORN ENEMY, RAIN ON THE PARADE, RIGHT BRIGADE, TEARS OF FRUSTRATION, EVERYBODY GETS HURT, ONE SIDED WAR และอีกหลายวง ซึ่งจะเล่นในสถานที่ที่เป็น DIY ชื่อว่า THE TEMPLE IN BENSONHURST BOOKLYN ถ้าต้องการทราบเพิ่มเติมลองติดต่อที่ e-mail: Punktemple@aol.com
11. HC คืออะไร ?
- ดนตรีและเนื้อหาของหนุ่มสาว ทั้งเร็ว ก้าวร้าว, ทำลายล้าง, รุนแรง, เป็นเอกภาพ, ความสุข, ความเศร้า, ความตกต่ำ, ความมั่นคง, การโลดเต้น, ความหวาดกลัว
12. คุณนึกถึงอะไรเมื่อได้ยินคำว่า South East Asia หรือประเทศไทย ?
- เอ่อ...น้ำ แสงแดด คนเยอะแยะที่ไม่เหมือนเรา แล้วก็ pornography ( สกปรก แหล่งเสื่อมโทรม หรือโสเภณี )
13. CODE 13 จากมินเนโซต้า เพิ่งจะมาเล่นที่กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคมที่ผ่านมา และ HIMSA ก็กำลังจะมาเล่นในเดือนตุลาคมนี้ จะมีโอกาสไหมที่ INHUMAN จะแวะมาเยี่ยมเยียนพวกเราชาวเอเซียบ้าง ?
- ก็ถ้ามีใครติดต่อมาเราก็จะไปนะ แต่ก็ไม่แน่ใจเหมือนกันเพราะเราไม่เคยได้รับการติดต่อจากทางเอเซียเลย ที่จริงเราเองก็อยากจะไปเล่นทุกที่ที่เด็ก ๆรู้จักเพลงของเราและสนุกกับดนตรีของเราได้
14. วงการ H/C ที่นี่ค่อนข้างเล็ก มีคำแนะนำอะไรสำหรับเราไหมในการขยายวงการ H/C ในประเทศไทยให้กว้างขึ้น ?
- เริ่มสนับสนุน fanzine ของคุณก่อนเลย ( ARISE ไงพวกเรา ! ) แล้วก็พยายามติดต่อกับวงดนตรีหรือค่ายเพลงเสนอโฆษณาให้ลงฟรี จัดคอนเสิร์ตให้วง H/C ในบ้านคุณเองทำอะไรก็ได้สักอย่างหนึ่งที่จะช่วยให้ทุกอย่างดีขึ้น ช่วยกันหน่อย ! DO SOMETHING !

- INHUMAN are a Hardcore/Punk band from Brooklyn New York, who formed in the Summer of 1995. Currently INHUMAN are Michael on vocals and Joseph James on bass and Foot on drums. We are currently searching for a guitarist.
2. We heard there have been some line-up changes ? What happened ? Who left and who took their place ?
- Since the release of " Rebellion " in Oct. 1999, we have lost our guitarist Walter and drummer Joe Fogarty. Joe was replaced by Foot of the New Jersey band Tears of Frustration and Walter has yet to be replaced.
The resons for Walters departure were various, but mainly because he was no longer having fun playing with us. He ( as well as the rest of us ) was also pretty bummed out about the label situation and felt the band might not be able to get any further. As far as our old drummer is concerned, we were all prettty glad to see him go. Nuff said.
3. What do you all do aside from Inhuman ? Other bands ? Wage slave jobs ? Hobbies ? Whatever ?
- Aside from INHUMAN, I work in the music industry as an assistant in the advertising credit dept. Im a big record collector, I have tons of cds and vinyl. I also have been a comic book fan for 15 years, so I have thousands of them as well. Im a big fan of horror films and some toys as well.
4. Your first CD “ Revolver ” is not available in Thailand. What label was it on ? Your latest CD “ Rebellion ” is on Exit Records. Why did you sign with Exit Records ?
- First of all, our first cd is called " EVOLVER " not " revolver " ! Hopefully that will clear up the confusion! HA! " EVOLVER " is on EYEBALL RECORDS based here in NYC.
They have put out records by Breakdown and more recently stuff like KILL VAN KULL and THURSDAY. We signed with Exit because we thought they were a great step up from Eyeball. We saw how much they did for INDECISION and SILENT MAJORITY ( to name a few ) and liked the fact that they did a lot of ads and decent distribution.
However, things could be a lot better with the handlings of the label since the release of " Rebellion ". We hope to iron things out with Exit very soon.
5. When did you first start listening to hardcore and who were the bands that got you into hardcore ?
- I got into Hardcore in the beginning of 1988/late 1987. It was as a result of skateboarding really. I was a Metalhead, listening to Anthrax, MOD, Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, but I started hagning out with HC kids and they totally got me into the scene. my first mixed tape was made for me in Feb. 1988,
I still have it to this day! It had Breakdowns 87' Demo, CroMags 86' Demo, SOIA's 7", WARZONE's first LP, a few Agnostic Front songs and a few Crunbsucker’s songs. Needless to say, I was blown away and haven’t been the same since. I saw my first show in May of 88', it was Bad Brains, Murphys Law, Token Entry and Supertouch at The Ritz. I was 14 going on 15 years old.
6. Who are your favorite bands now ?
- For Hardcore, it’s IGNITE, SHUTDOWN, TRIAL, STRIFE, FLOORPUNCH and a few others. I listen to alot of Gothic, Industrial/EBM music now, as well as Black Metal and Death Metal, which Ive been listening to since 1991 quite seriously.
You know, I have to say some of my all time favorite bands are: MISFITS, DANZIG, SAMHAIN, GUNS N ROSES, TYPE O NEGATIVE, THE DAMNED, SISTERS OF MERCY, CRO MAGS, BAUHAUS, INTEGRITY, IGNITE, DARKTHRONE, SLAYER, SOCIAL DISTORTION and JOY DIVISION.
7. What hardcore bands have you toured with/played with ?
- Toured with ? Only SHUTDOWN and ALL OUT WAR. Weve played shows with Murphys Law, Madball, Indecision, 25 Ta Life, Floorpunch, Ensign, Hatebreed, Disassociate, Silent Majority, Kill Your Idols, Where Fear And Weapons Meet, Sworn enemy and tons more.
8. Here in Bangkok, we have a problem finding places for bands to play. We have to pay clubs a lot of money to rent them for the day and we don’t have a lot of money. How are hardcoe shows set up in the US ? Who pays for the show and the promotion ? Do clubs pay you to play or just let you play and give you a percentage ? How does it usually work ?
- HC shows are either booked by a promoter for a club, or by a kid or a promoter in a hall. With the club shows, the club takes a certain % of the door, usually ALOT if you ask me and then the bands get paid. For a hall, the person doing the show pays X ammount of money for the space and PA and ( hopefully ) makes enough $ back to pay for the bands. I hate these aspects of playing, but it’s just the way it is. Nothing in life is free right ?
9. What are Inhuman’s plans ? Are you recording a new record ? What label will it be on? Will it be different in any way from what Inhuman has done in the past ? Touring soon? Where and with who ?
- Our main goal is to secure the line up once and for all. Then do a tour and THEN work on a new record, hopefully in that order. I must say however, the new material will be different from the 2 previous ones. It will be darker, yet catchy at the same time. I dare to say a mix of HC, Punk, Rock, Goth and Metal. As for what label it will be on, according to our contract, it’s Exit, but you never know.
10. We heard that you are settig up a big show in Brooklyn. What is that all about ? When is it ? Where? Who will be playing ?
- Yes, Im setting up a big show in Brooklyn called BROOKLYN FEST on August 27th 2000. Ive never done anything like this, so Im pretty excited about it. Its going to have 14 bands of various styles like SHUTDOWN, INHUMAN (of course) SWORN ENEMY, RAIN ON THE PARADE, RIGHT BRIGADE, TEARS OF FRUSTRATION, EVERYBODY GETS HURT, ONE SIDED WAR and several more. Its at a DIY venue called The Temple in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. For more info on it, email Punktemple@aol.com.
11. What is “ hardcore ” ?
- The music and the message of the youth. Its about speed, anger, frustration, intensity, unity, happiness, saddness, depression, integrity, dancing, screaming, finger pointing and even passion, all rolled into one.
12. What images come to your mind when you hear “ South East Asia ” or “ Thailand ” ?
- Wow, lets see: water, the sun, lots of people who look nothing like me and for some strange reason, pornography !
13. CODE 13 from Minnesota (Havoc Records) was here in May. Himsa ( Revelation Records ) is coming in October. Is there any chance INHUMAN might do an Asian tour any time soon and come play here in Bangkok ?
- Well, if someone would contact us, and be willing to get us down there, we'll play. Im not so sure just how known we are out there since I dont get too many emails or letters. INHUMAN would love to play anywhere where there’s kids singing along and going nuts man !
14. The scene here is small. Any advice for kids that are just getting into hardcore and want to do something to help the Thai Hardcore scene grow ?
- Start a fanzine and promote the hell out of it! Write lots of letters to bands and labels offering free ads if possible. Try to book a show, make flyers for local bands and hand em out. Anything helps spread the word. Or you can complain and sit on your ass like most NYC kids do. But serioulsy, like the song says: DO SOMETHING !
